FLOUNDER GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!

8-15-2014: Hey Fellow Giggers!  This summer has been fantastic. The flounder gigging is still going strong, very productive with the full moon and low tides. We have been gigging our limit of flounder by midnight, some nights earlier. I had Brandon & his wife from Padre Island, on the boat last night. They asked me to come down & gig on the Upper Laguna Madre. I went down there knowing it would be a perfect night with light SW winds and a falling tide. We gigged their limit of 10 flounder in about an hour, we even passed a few smaller ones for a chance at some nicer size fish. Most averaging 3 pounds each. Drum are out and we have been gigging 5 to 10 drum a night, with a few sheepshead. After I dropped Brandon & his wife off, I decided to go back out commercially. I headed south from the JFK bridge and took Lower Laguna Madre - about a 45 minute boat ride. Water clarity was absolutely horrible, I couldn't see deeper than 18" of water with brown tide everywhere. It took me til 6:00am to find my 30 fish limit. I had 8 flounder weighing over 7 pounds - BIG FISH!
I still have a few dates available for the end of August & September - Give me a call to - Reserve - 361-790-3271

8-15-2014: Hello To Everyone, Fish "catching" has been an on again off again experience to explain it gently. The August Article I wrote seems to be right on target. You're not going to load a box every time you go out. I know I try as hard as anyone to put the clients on the fish, but sometimes the fish do not get the memo to eat. For instance, when my Family and I went in the airboat we saw hundreds of Reds and Black Drum. They simply would not hit our bait. Strange as it may seem that's just the nature
of the beast, on again off again. Use shrimp for the Black Drum, Croakers and Piggies for Trout/Reds. I'm seeing more and more clues by the way the fish are acting that the "Prime Time Red Fishing Time" is just around the corner. Please book a trip, or two with us and "lets go catch you some memories". Also, please read my August
Article and check out the photos. I believe it will hit home for you.
Please contact me and lets go "catch you some memories".

8-15-14:

As the summer comes to a close and the kiddos are getting ready to head back to school , donít give up on the fishing as it seems to be getting better. Well folks, the Redfishing seems to be on the up rise. We have been catching some tournament size Redfish. We have been targeting the redfish shallow with topwater lures and bait early in the morning, and once the sun comes up we have still been sightcasting to schools of black drum and redfish on the flats.
I also specialize in Sight Casting or Sight Fishing for Redfish it is an art that only one can appreciate when being successfully taught. Once you catch your first "sightcasted" fish you will really appreciate the thrill of feeding the fish and watching the eat. Iím going to be honest with you in all aspects. My number one must in sight fishing/casting is to buy the best pair of polarized sunglasses you budget will allow. My personal preference is my Costa Del Mar 580 glass lenses in amber with the green mirror. (hammerhead model) Be sure you choose a frame that lets the minimal amount of outside light in as possible meaning buy the right frame to fit your face. Not all people will have the same comforts in frame.
Some of the other things that are very important in sight fishing is being able to tell which way the fish is facing you want your lure to pass in front of him/her vs. behind. Being able to cast small lures accurately to fish will greatly improve your success rate for catching fish by sight. Itís not always about filling the box with fish! Sometimes feeding/catching one Redfish by sight casting or on a topwater lure where you can see the explosion when it hit can be a trip maker especially if it is your first time fishing without bait.
When you are constantly casting lures for the most part of the day it will also make you a better caster and get more familiar with the rod/reel. Patience is the key to catching fish on lures. Please select your fishing guide and stick to the guide you like and he/she will learn your strengths as well as weaknesses to better fit your fishing style. We as fishing guides all want to see the kids catch fish so they become addicted to fishing as they grow as opposed to out running around on the streets. We work first hand with the kids to make sure they have fun and make memories after all we are here to learn and to have a good time. I will touch more on sight fishing in the near future. Please keep me in mind when booking your next fishing trip. I can be reached at 361-726-5255 or through my website at

8-15-2014:

Hello Everybody,
Has the weather the last few days shaped up very nicely. We have had very light winds and the water is finally cleaning up. Trout are still here and still eating piggy perch and croaker. Boat limits or near boat limits are the norm if the weather cooperates. If it is windy 20 trout are common. there is only a few weeks left of the 10 fish limit on trout. Don't miss out. Reds are in the flats eating piggy perch and pin perch. I have not red fished in a while, but I am being told the afternoon is the time to be red fishing. the next two weeks should be awesome-if the weather continues to hold! Once school starts there will certainly be less traffic on the water making for some very pleasant and peaceful days.

INTERESTED IN HUNTING?

8-15-2014

I've been extremely busy for the last couple if months and I've been slacking on my fishing reports. I'm sorry for that for those of you that look forward to reading updated fishing reports. My clients were limiting on their reds, but a few weeks ago the water level really dropped and we were smoking the reds and black drum most days. Then the water started coming back in somewhat and kinda scattered the fish i was on. With last week's super moon, and adding to the equation of rising water and slick calm winds, i had a really rough week fishing. It was more fishing rather than catching. Now that we're on the waning side of the moon my fishing, or lets say catching, has once again been good since last Sunday. School starts back here before long so i know most of you are done with the coast thing for now, but for those of you that are not, I still have plenty of open dates to fill in September and October. I am really looking forward to fall fishing and some cooler weather!

Give me a call today to reserve your spot!

8-15- 2014 - Hey There Flounder Gigging and Bay Fishing Enthusiasts!

We are still looking at good numbers of flounder out there, however I've noticed their not eating as much, kinda like when we get hot were not hungry, they are also burying themselves in the mud a lot now because the water is 88 degrees like a bathtub!
Its been brought to my attention the bite for reds is very short in the mornings again try the late evening instead I'm sure you will have much more success were still having way low tides in the evening and dirty water, but those of us doing this regularly have learned to adapt. May your fishing always be catching Stay safe everyone and let's go catch some fish,
