10-1-2015: Fall is here and the
fishing is great! We have been sight casting and catching lots of
reds early in the morning as well as catching a lot of trout and
flounder. Fall is one of my favorite times to fish because I love
sight casting redfish and catching limits of the delicious flat
fish! I've been steering-clear of the red tide while fishing around
shamrock cove and Baffin Bay. Give me a call if you want to have a

We've had some high tides for the last couple of weeks and it has
scattered my fish, and has had me really hustling to stay on them.
Limits have been hard to come by if I've got 4 clients aboard, but
1-3 clients hasn't been that bad because I've been able to catch up
to 10 or so keeper reds on each trip. Hopefully we'll start to get
some cold fronts in which will cool our waters and drop our tides
making the CATCHING part much easier. There are some black drum in
my fishing area as well but they've been a little tight lipped. I
think a cold front or two would get the ball rolling on them as
well. Most of my weekends are already booked for October , but I've
got several weekdays available if you can get away to do a little
fishing during those days.
I still have some dates open if you would like to book

TIDES, LIGHT WINDS! PERFECT WEATHER! The flounder
gigging has been awesome over the last couple of weeks! With
the red tide that was around the area, I was making a longer boat
ride to stay clear of the red tide. I believe it is finally out of
the flats and luckily it did not kill too many of our good fish.
We are gigging a twenty fish limit in about 3 hours. I have been
gigging most of my flounder way back in the back lakes of St. joe
Island. The flounder have been sitting on soft mud and dead seagrass
in about one foot of water. There is only one more month left
of gigging action before they shut us down during November. I do
still have a few weekdays open, but will try my best to accommodate
those interested in late trips on weekends and such. Please give me
a call to RESERVE 361-790-3271!

Fall is finally in full swing. Temps have dropped a little and the
days are full of sunshine. Fishing has been fair to good. Nueces bay
is still producing trout off the reefs while free lining piggies.
We've been jumping from reef to reef and getting limits most days
with a few reds mixed in. We've been spending a few days in the
flats between Rockport and Aransas Pass. Using cut mullet has worked
for the most part to get our reds however keep a supply of live
piggies in your live well. Move around a little and work the sand
pockets. Once you find them your limits should come fairly easy.

South Texas! Hello South Texas! Here we are with
fall started, the flounder are starting to get a little bigger
now, and seem to be moving around making their (beds) every
where ,a bed is a spot where one hung out for a while then
moved they leave a tell tale imprint of themselves in the
sand. I hear there are still redfish on St. Joe across from
Rockport, however they seem to be between 20 and 22 inches, I
believe the bigger ones have migrated to the gulf, never fear,
they will be back! some drum and sheepshead are hanging around
the island moorings area of Port A and their are also some
good flounder, watch for them on the edges of oyster reefs and
some are now hanging there around East flats in the potholes.
There has been talk of red tide in and around corpus bay, this
is true ,but the percentage is so small its not killing any
fish that I can see, last news report had it moving south out
of our area, once the temp. drops it will die, it has not
effected my fishing.

10-1-2015: Hello To Everyone!
I have recently cancelled several trips due to the Brown/Red Tide
here along the coast line. I've lost approximately 60 dozen Piggies
from my bait basket, so why would I chance, at this time, putting my
clients in "a coughing situation". I have not and will not. This
happens every year with the "tide" just some years the conditions
are worse...like this year. Thousands of baits have been lost not
only from Lac's Bait Stand in Aransas Pass, but from many, if not
all, of the surrounding Bait Stands. The good news is it does not
last forever. It usually last a few days to a few weeks and then its
gone. Now, with all that "Bad News" comes the "Great News", most of
the time after this mess has moved on the stands replenish and the
fishing/catching becomes phenomenal. If you are curious if it has
dissipated please give me a call and I'll fill you in. If it is
"good water" remember this is "Prime Time Red Fishing Time". Book a
trip, or two, and "lets go catch you some memories". While you're at
it book a trip, or two, on a Duck Hunt and "lets take a duck to

Hello to all. October is here and with this month comes
Redfish. Redfish will be migrating through the Jetties and passes.
Most of these fish will be oversized. If your looking for a big bull
redfish this is the place. They will be feeding on a verity of baits
such as mullet, perch, squid and menhaden. People will be lined up
at the Jetties for this traditional migration. In the bay's and
flats Redfish will be schooled up and feeding heavy. Look for these
fish in 1-2 ft. Our tides have been extremely high. This will push
the fish up tight to the shorelines. As for bait pin perch, piggy
perch and mullet seem to be working best. The red tide has not been
and issue in the flats. I seen very little of it and it's pretty
spotty in just a few areas. The winds have been out of the north in
the last week. This will help push it out back into the gulf.

As we come into October, the weather should start getting a little
cooler and days a little shorter. The fishing as a whole has stayed
steady. I have started to focus more on redfish with the fall high
tide. Beginning to catch reds and drum on top of shell reefs with
shrimp under a cork. With shrimp and mullet on the bottom, I also
have been targeting grassy shoreline. For trout I have been drifting
or wading using shrimp under a cork or piggies under a cork. I still
have dates open in October and November, so if your looking to go
fishing, hunting, or a cast and blast just give me a shout by email

Hello Everybody, Fishing/Catching is still spectacular. Trout
are eating croaker and live piggy perch. Limits are common and the
fish are running up to 27 inches for me. Reds are also eating
croaker and piggy perch. There are reds in the flats, but they are
not everywhere, just certain places at certain times. reds are also
on scattered shell reefs and usually there are more than one. The
next two weeks hopefully will see a cooling trend for both hair and
water. October however, is normally an awesome month and hopefully
you will have the chance to visit the coast and get in on the
action. You will be glad that you did!

Communities of Rockport-Fulton, Port Aransas Aransas Pass, Ingleside

Look for Redfish on the flats close to moving water areas such as
good tidal flow areas. Walk ankle to shin deep water walking ever so
quietly. Look for glistening tails when the sun is up. Look for
V-Wakes and big pushes of water. Always remember look for high
concentrations of bait. NO BAIT NO REDS. Now is the time of
year to be stalking with a 6-8 Wt fly rod with a White seaducer,
crab pattern or a Gold Spoon Fly. If fly fishing isnít your game
then Bagley Lures makes a rattle-less balsa wood topwater plug that
Iíve fooled tons of redfish with in skinny water (chartreuse). When
fishing dense grassy areas try the DOA 5.5Ē jerk shad rigged with a
5/0 Owner screw lock worm hook. In the cream with gold glitter.
Black Drum: Since the falling of the high tides the black drum
fishing has been good on dead shrimp near drop offs and grass lines
near reefs free lined or on 1/8 oz. jig heads. Speckled Trout:
Trout fishing has been great as well on live Croaker and Piggy Perch
either free lined or under shakers about 1-2í, fishing 4-6í of water
with grass beds look for sweet smelling slicks that pop and fish
close to them. Donít be afraid to get out of the boat and wade those
trout also. Wading can be very productive and donít forget to work
those live baits in the potholes. Live bait on the beach has been
good too. Redfish: Red fishing has picked up and are on the
flats near good tidal flow areas look for reds in 1-3í of water and
make sure to place your baits in the potholes. Top water lures an
also be deadly early in the morning. Use live finger mullet or cut
mullet fish the potholes of your favorite flat.
