2-3-2016: As we start off February and duck season is officially
over. Its time to concentrate on winter fishing. The wade fishing
has been good for trout and reds with soft plastics in between the
fronts. I have been finding my fish on sand mud bottom in around 3ft
of water. There has been a lot of action but able to find good trout
mixed in with the smaller fish. The reds have also been the same
way. I will find slot reds but might have to go thru a few dinks
first... but in all, you end up with a nice stringer of fish. The
drum have been holding over shell and mud and is an easy bite when
the sun is out and warms up really nice early afternoon. There has
also been a few reds mixed in there as well. This pattern should
hold for the next 4 to 6 weeks. My books are open for the year so
lets book that fishing trip and don't forget I am running spring
break specials so call if interested!

Fishing and Flounder Gigging is usually great in February we have
been finding many schools of redfish coming into the flats already.
I'm confident 2016 will be a great year much needed rainfall created
some much needed bait for the fish to feed on. Towards the end of
2015 I was seeing an abundance of flounder, redfish and trout fry,
as well as juvenile fish. For the month of February remember fish
the conditions you are given for the day don't get stuck on a
location. Just because they were there yesterday doesn't mean they
are there today. We generally are still getting cold fronts so be
prepared to go to drop offs near the flats but for the most part the
Redfish will be holding over shallow water mid day getting some sun
then dropping down to drop offs during the night. Redfish this time
of year are picky eaters one day they want cut mullet the next
peeled shrimp if you're fishing bait.

2-3-2016: January fishing was
real good getting 10-15 flounder on calm nights, windy nights not so
good. Picking up a handful of sheepshead and drum. The tides are
holding high. Seeing reds scattered up in the grass . There are
sheepshead off the rocks on the jetties easy pickings for bobbers
and shrimp. If you want to fish for reds. I recommend the cuts in
front of the lighthouse and shrimp boat channel. If you fish
right where it drops into the deep water. wait them out/ With
tides moving the bight should be on.

2-3-2016: Hello to a all. I
like what I'm seeing. There is a lot of Redfish on our flats. There
biting on a verity of baits. Shrimp live or dead, sea lice and
finger mullet. Look for these fish in 1-2 feet of water. When the
tide falls out after a big frontal passage these fish will fall off
in the channels and sloughs. The fishermen throwing artificial our
doing good wading in the same areas using and 1/8 ounce jig with
darker colors. The Black Drum our on deeper drops and school up.
There biting on dead or live shrimp. For oversize Drum use sea lice
or a cracked crab. There's also a lot of sheepshead hanging around
structure and well heads. It's still a little early for trout
fishing so hang in there. I looking foreword to see a lot of you on
spring break. I have some availability if you like to book a trip.
Hope to see you soon.

2-3-2016: Well another duck season has come and gone,
and I'm off to run my hog and javelina hunts. Overall the duck
season was a little slow due to it not getting cold enough up north
as fast as usual, thus not pushing the birds down until the latter
part of our season. This being said, my clients didn't do too bad,
but there was room for improvement on the birds side of things. With
the weather being so warm over the last few weeks the fishing had
been pretty good for January conditions. Not very typical from past
years experience where the weather has been cold and wintry. I was
still able to catch a lot of fish up in the very shallow water until
last week when that one front from the NW pushed the water
completely out making the fish move to deeper water and the more
drastic breaks along the channels.
February, up to Spring Break, I take off for the brush to run my hog
and javelina hunts. While talking to my ranchers, they have told me
there are lots of hogs and sign they've seen over the course of deer
season. It sure to be good "hog season" for me. As I sit here
writing this report this morning, last night was my first night with
hunters. Kinda sounded like a war out there while I was sitting in
camp waiting for the call to come help find them. I still have
plenty of room for any of you that would like to get in on a hog
hunt between now and end of March. With me running my hog hunts, I
will not be posting a fishing report on the March 1st deadline. I
will be fishing Spring Break, but that will be too late to write a
report out before it's due to post on the website.

Spring seems to be coming a little early this year. Between fronts
we're getting some warmer days and calm winds. We're still doing a
lot of wading in Nueces Bay, moving from reef to reef. Look for
flipping mullet around the reefs, wade it slow and thoroughly. When
the tide drops out, look for the deeper guts along the side of the
reefs. Most areas are providing easy limits of trout fairly quick.
Colors of choice are plum/chartreuse, white/chartreuse and electric
chicken. Mix these with an 1/8 screw lock jig and you're ready to
go. If you're looking for lots of fun, pull out the waders and let's
go. For those that don't wade we can still get them from the boat.

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC! CALL 361-790-3271
The flounder gigging during January was one for the record books. I
have been gigging flounder in the Rockport/Port Aransas area for 24
years and have never seen the flounder like this during this time of
year. The mild winter has left the fish mind-boggled. It seems to me
the fish aren't swimming up right after the fronts, they are waiting
for the water temperature to rebound a little bit and the wind to
turn back around out of the south. I am gigging most of my flounder
and sheepshead in the back bays around Rockport. They are holding
about 40 yards off the banks on sand bars, in about 2 feet of water
and around the mouths of guts leading into small back lakes. There
are lots of sheepshead starting to show up as well. Contact me

2-3-2016: Hello South
Texas! Well, its turning out to be one warm winter this
year, it is rare to have 62 degree water in the bay middle of
January. But there it is....this week I HAVE PUT PEOPLE ON THE
FLOUNDER! Its' the norm to get 14 to 16 inch fish this time of
year- we have been gigging 18 to 22 inch flounder this month,
and limits in a few hours, either this is a fluke, or the new
rules are really paying off. Redfish are on the east
shoreline of corpus bay from ship channel south, mostly in the
21 to 24 inch range, I'm not sure what they are eating, but
live bait would be my recommendation, also a few large trout
have been schooling with them, groups of 3 to 10 fish are in 2
ft. of water, also some drum are here and there and some giant
sheepshead too! Rockport area has been good around Estes
Flats, and the water has finally cleared in Copano Bay,
everyone remembers the big rains last fall, which had run the
fish from that area they are back, live shrimp is available at
stands or catch your own minnows, they never left, it didn't
get cold enough, there's plenty for all ,come with me and load

Hello Everybody, The last few days have been awesome red
fishing. The tide dropped out and the red fish were stacked. They
are eating Sea Lice, Shrimp, Mullet and Pin Perch. Boat limits were
pretty much a given. The month of February should be great as well.
I am sure that cold fronts will continue to make their way through
the Coastal Bend so dressing appropriately is a must. Red fish will
still be on the flats and the first drop near deeper water.
Oversized Black Drum are here and are eating shrimp, crab and sea
lice. Most people in this are fish the ship channel in Ingleside
across from the old Navy base. Trout are here too. They are eating
soft plastics and shrimp. Drifting or wading will produce a nice box
of fish weather/wind permitting. Overall February should be a good

Hello To Everyone! I did a two day "Cast and Blast" Guide Trip for 5
guys the last days of the Duck Season. Everyone had a great time.
Check out the photos of the stringer of Reds, one big thick Trout,
and some of the Ducks these guys bagged. We caught the Reds on live
shrimp in deep pockets and the ducks were rafting by the hundreds
out in the middle of the back lakes. As far as fishing, the tide was
absolutely whistling out and you could not stay in certain areas too
long, because you could get your bay boat stuck. Ducks began to fly
and my guys bagged their limits. As I've stated in some of the

2-10-16: Fishing is really staring to pick-
up now! What a mile winter this was and with those milder
temperatures comes the promise of an absolutely fantastic spring and
summer fishing season! In February we usually "fish the fronts"
but cold front - thanks to El Nino - aren't as frequent this year -
leaving lots of days on the water that are not only productive for
fishing, but truly beautiful "blue-sky" days. This is the time of
year we love, not too hot, not too cold and the fish are moving around -
which is always a good sign for finding them and catching them.
Redfish are hitting live shrimp, especially over the shallow mud flats.
Recent catches include nice-sized trout (off the drop-offs near the reefs.
JUMBO-SIZE BLACK DRUM - AKA BIG UGLIES are
pulling some serious line hitting cut crab. The Black Drum are running
early this year due to the milder-than-usual winter.... but MARCH IS BLACK
